This kit absolutely will whiten teeth but the gel will burn your gums, no doubt about it. The trick is to cover your teeth with the gel but not to get any on your gums.Like anyone else, when I first received my kit I was in a hurry to see results. I did a hasty tray fitting, jammed some gel into them and sat and felt my gums scream for an hour. It hurt but my teeth were certainly whiter!
I skipped a couple of days of treatment to let my gums recover and during that time I thought about it- how to get gel on my teeth but not on my gums?
I sat down in front of a mirror and put the empty trays in my mouth, and outlined the exact pattern of my teeth on them, then cut the trays down.
Then I used a sparing amount of gel and it worked perfectly- I was able to leave them in for two hours without one burnt or sensitive spot on my gums.
It's a shame that all these kits use trays so ill fitting and huge. I understand that they have a difficult time including a one size fits all but there has to be a better way to get folks to take the time to personalize the trays. Any issue I have is with the trays, not the gel because it works fabulously!
I gave this product four stars because it does whiten teeth an incredible amount in a very short time. If it had been possible I would have given a 3.5 because the trays are so difficult. If you decide to do this please take the time to fit the trays to your teeth and then trim them down to the bare minimum needed to cover your teeth.
The breath mints included are positively vile and should be removed from their product line asap.
