I ordered this for my 10 toy poodles who have tater/dental/gum disease. I have tried other things and have them on "pulse" antibiotic treatment, first 2 weeks of the month. I was excited to see this brand available for dogs as I have used Dr. Katz's products myself with miraculous results so I expect it will work for my dogs as well. I will give you followups as time goes on as to progress. Thanks.UPDATE 6/16/11: BEST THING I HAVE EVER USED FOR TARTER ON DOGS TEETH. THE TARTER IS GONE ON ALL OF THEIR TEETH! Swollen red gums better too! I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT MYSELF. I never imagined their gums and going from such terrible condition to so much better in about a month just from drinking water. I mean, their tarter was built up and just horrible!. It has saved teeth for these little guys as well. Oh, and their bad breath is about 90% better too! Wish I had known about this in the beginning before teeth were lost. "Miraculous" is not an overstatement in my dogs cases - it is true!
I tried so many brands of toothpaste, spray on treatments, gels, all a pain to use. They fought me, it was so frustrating, I am sure because even touching their gums and teeth hurt and they hated the taste of the other things. This, in their water, does not bother them. Had expensive, professional cleaning done on some only to have their teeth in same condition a year later needing another cleaning, under anesthesia, which can be dangerous. What could be easier than just adding this to their water!? They even act like they feel better and have more pep and energy. Maybe because they don't have pain anymore? I don't know, but it works and none of them have had a bad reaction to it. Working so well on all 10 dogs is quite a good testimony, I think.
Vets will lose money on teeth cleaning and our dogs won't have to endure the pain of it, once this well kept secret gets out!
I recently became in a family crisis and forgot to re-order so my dogs went without this for a few weeks. Yup, the tarter is coming back again...of course it is. I feel so guilty. At least now I know how to get rid of it. You must use this continually, even after you first get rid of the tarter, because it just keeps on coming back! A small price to pay for your dogs health and happiness. You won't have the expense of Vets cleaning and your dog won't have to endure the pain of it. Teeth and gum problems can cause other heath problems and even be fatal to them, not to mention the pain it causes.
